REV. SUSAN OLSON

Pastor

Susan Olson became the pastor of First Congregational church of Lyme in November 2019. Previous ministry positions have included chaplain positions at Wilson, Wesley and Connecticut Colleges and at Yale University. 

She is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (BS), Michigan State University (MA) and Yale Divinity School (M Div,) and is ordained in the Presbyterian Church USA. 

A bi-vocational minister, her other profession is working with students with disabilities at Yale University.  Outside of work, Susan loves to read, swim, sing and volunteer. Pastor Olson lives in New Haven with her amazing teenager Selam (b. 2006) and two poorly behaved but beloved cats.

Connie Hurtt

Church Administrator

Connie has enjoyed her time working in the church office since 2007. After working in the office for a few years, she joined the church and she currently serves on the church council.

Connie graduated from the University of Delaware in 1989 and raised her three wonderful children in Old Lyme. She is mom to Matthew, Tyler, Keelin and Matthew’s wife Allison. She is very active in the local tennis community and enjoys spending time with her family, tennis, pickleball, hiking, biking and traveling.

 

Susan Paisley

Church Organist

Susan Paisley has been called to serve as church organist since May 2023.

She has worked throughout Connecticut at churches of various denominations, most recently Christ United Methodist Church of Groton, and Mohegan Congregational Church.


Her graduate studies were at Hartt School of Music, as well as extensive private instruction with Dr Paul Jordan, Dr Andrew Kotylo, and David Doolitte.


She led a German chorus for eight years at the Harugari Club in West Haven, which competed in regional events.


Susan is Sub Dean of the New London Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, and Past Dean of the New Haven Chapter.


When she is not playing the organ, she plays violin with Southeastern Connecticut Community Orchestra, and Community String orchestra of Essex.
