Programs for Children and Youth

Children and youth are involved in our church in a variety of ways.  There are opportunities to lead in worship as an acolyte, reader, usher or musician. Some children and youth help with our outreach projects in the soup kitchen and elsewhere. Occasional educational programs, such as compassion camp and Vacation Bible School have been held over recent years.  Seasonal events like the Christmas Pageant and Easter egg hunt are also popular ways for our children to join in. At least two Sundays a month include a children’s sermon during worship.  Children and teenagers are also welcome to our intergenerational events and are often enthusiastic participants in crafts projects and meals.  Children and youth are always welcome at the First Congregational church of Lyme. Squirmy toddlers, crying babies, outspoken grade-schoolers and questioning teenagers are signs of a growing and welcoming community.  Your children are not interrupting church–they ARE the church. Please know this is a place where children are always welcome, as they are.
